Dennis Howlett now blogs on ZDNet for most of his ‘enterprise’ stuff. I objected at the time, but having finally read one of his posts (about SAP’s Business By Design SaaS offering) there, I wanted to comment …

No sorry, I DON’T want to register with ZDNet … so here’s my comment:

Clapton’s ‘slowhand’ nickname was a tongue-in-cheek reference to his FAST playing, not his slow maturation … this looks like SAP still thinking like a megalith – not wanting to cannibalise it’s on-premise business. I don’t believe it’s aggressive enough a cost reduction, and I’m unconvinced that they understand the marketplace and the new partnering requirements. BUT – it’s an interesting step, and offers validation of the potential in SaaS.
